Beth Mortensen, S.T.D.



Beth Mortensen received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame in French and Great Books (PLS), and Masters and Licentiate degrees in Sacred Theology from the International Theological Institute in Austria. She received her doctorate in Sacred Theology from the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, writing on “The Relation between the Juridical and the Sacramental in Matrimony According to Thomas Aquinas.” She and her husband, John Mortensen founded the Aquinas Institute, which publishes the works of Aquinas in Latin-English editions as well as offering online discussion seminars. Mortensen was the recipient of two grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities for translations of Aquinas’s Sentences Commentary.
