This course explores and explains some of the fundamental biblical, historical and theological issues surrounding our belief in the Trinity, “One God, Three Persons.”  The course will also examine how the Creed impacts our faith in light of our Trinitarian belief.  You don’t want to miss this opportunity to learn about the Trinity, a foundation of our Christian faith!

C25          Consistent Life Ethic

Fridays                               6/15, 22, 29          9:30 am-12 noon

Join in an exploration and examination of the ethical issues involving life, death, quality of life and suffering.  Participants will learn about the need for approaching all life issues consistently and will examine Church and other theological teachings on a variety of issues including artificial reproduction, abortion, end of life issues, education, economics and war.  This promises to be a lively and informative course.

D21           Introduction to Spiritual Direction

Interested in learning more about spiritual direction?  This course is for you!  We will look at the components of the ministry of spiritual direction, examine the charismatic skills of the spiritual director and explore the role of prayer and discernment in the process.

This course is designed for both those currently working in ministry as well as those who are thinking about it.  We will cover the fundamentals of pastoral care, focusing on assessment and referral for the beginner, as well as first principles of pastoral care.  Ideal for those new to ministry

This course is ideal for those interested in liturgy, particularly RCIA.  The course includes an overview of the various rites including an examination of the nature of ritual.  Participants will also examine the implications of the rites for pastoral practice.  A must for volunteers and paid professionals alike!

This course will examine the basic practices and beliefs of the major world religions and Christian denominations.  On what can we agree?  What are the fundamental differences?  How do we address ecumenical issues in a post-9/11 world?  Emphasis will be placed on understanding the religious landscape of America and on practical integration of strategies for pastoral and personal practice.

Attention all Youth Ministers and YM volunteers!  Don’t miss this opportunity to further develop your leadership skills!  We will examine the specific leadership skills all those working with youth need to be successful and effective.  The course will  combine theory presentations and experiential learning as approaches and processes for effective leadership.
