What
is the Certification Program?
The Certification program is designed for those who are not pursuing a graduate degree at St. Bernard’s but who are working to complete diocesan certification in catechetical ministry, youth ministry, music and liturgical leadership, pastoral administration, or RCIA leadership. The CDM program also welcomes men and women interested in taking short-term courses for personal enrichment.
What does the program include?
The following core courses are required for all certificates:
- Hebrew Scriptures
- Christian Scriptures
- Theology and Ministry
- Ecclesiology
- Christology
- Sacramental Theology
- Liturgy and Worship
- Principles of Morality
- Pastoral Skills for Ministry
In addition each concentration requires five specific courses.
The courses are offered on a four year sequence and are open to any registrants. There are no prerequisites. Applicants who have completed the Albany Diocese Formation for Ministry Program receive advanced standing for several of the core courses. Advanced standing may be granted to students who demonstrate other course work with appropriate documentation.
CDM classes are eight hours in length and include required readings and written assignments.
Tuition for the 2007-08 year is $100 per course.
