Celebrating Bishop Emeritus Matthew Clark:
At St. Bernard’s we join with those who wish Bishop Emeritus Matthew Clark joy in his retirement and celebrate his many years of service as our Bishop. During that time, he honored St. Bernard’s School of Theology and Ministry not only as our Chancellor, but also as a loyal friend and avid supporter. The men and women who graduate from St. Bernard’s continue to share his legacy through a vast array of parish ministries. Their work reflects Bishop Clark’s vision of what it means to be a Catholic in today’s Church.
Recognizing His Vision:
In recognition of his work, friends of St. Bernard’s have established The Bishop Matthew Clark Scholarship Fund. This endowed scholarship fund honors the Bishop’s vision for a truly inclusive church and reflects his commitment to developing lay ministers. These scholarships enable men and women who are called to serve as lay ministers in the Catholic Church, to pursue their degrees with the spiritual, educational and financial support they need.
Endowing His Legacy:
It is our hope that this scholarship fund becomes a lasting tribute to our Chancellor, who dedicated much of his work over the last 30 years to encouraging, nurturing and embracing all Catholics – lay and ordained alike – to heed the call to serve Christ through their ministries. We are all blessed by the fruit of his work.
