Admissions

Admissions to the formal academic programs offered by St. Bernard's
require the following items:
- A completed admission form
- Official academic transcripts for all post-secondary educational
experiences, including degrees earned
- Three letters of reference that attest to aptitude for the
program
- A personal statement
- Proof of immunization against measles, rubella and mumps
for applicants born after 1/1/57
- Paid application fee
Requirements include
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college
- At least 18 undergraduate credits in any combination of theology,
philosophy or religious studies. Courses in sociology, social
work, psychology and counseling may also be given consideration
for fulfilling part of the prerequisites.
- Academic equivalency for life experience, including experience
in ministry, continuing education, Certification for Designated
Ministry courses and reading may be recognized as fulfilling part
of the prerequisites. (Contact the Registrar for forms.)
- An
undergraduate quality point average of 2.0/4.0 for the
Master
of
Divinity.
program and 2.5/4.0 for the
Master
of Arts
programs.
Unclassified
and Special Students

A student who has demonstrated the ability to undertake graduate
level work may enroll as an Unclassified Student and is allowed
to complete no more than four courses before declaring for a specific
degree program or a concentration in an Master of Arts program.
Special Student classification is given to students who do course
work for transfer to another institution or who, though otherwise
qualified, lack sufficient prerequisites for the program they wish
to enter.
Courses taken either as an Unclassified Student or Special Student
may be applied towards the fulfillment of prerequisites or degree
requirements, upon the written request of the student and with the
approval of the Academic Dean.
Audit

Instructor's permission is required to audit a course.
Advanced
Certificate Students
------------------------------------------------------------
A
limited number of students who lack requirements for admission into
the Master of Arts program but have demonstrated an ability to undertake graduate
level work may enroll in the A
limited number of students who lack requirements for admission into
the master of Arts program but have demonstrated an ability to undertake graduate
level work may enroll in the
Advanced
Graduate Certificate in Pastoral Studies
at the School.
